What is a short break?

A short break is temporary support for people who are normally supported by family or carers, giving them a break and allowing the supported person opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills.

Who is short break support for?

For adults with a physical disability, learning disability or mental health issue who normally live with carers or family.

How can we support you?

We offer support based on people’s needs and aspirations. This can include support with:

  • household tasks
  • personal care
  • building links with friends, family and the community
  • social and leisure activities
  • making healthy lifestyle choices.

When is short break support available?

Support is tailored to the individual need and can be during the day, evening and night.

Why does a short break work?

A short break  offers regular carers a break and opens supported individuals up to new experiences. Giving both parties a break allows them to come back refreshed and enthused.
